I have found the bass can be difficult to catch but I have caught good sized (up to 6 pounds) largemouth bass in the reservoir. According to the Virginia Dept. of Inland Fisheries the crappie fishing is good although I haven't tested that myself. Based on fish samplings the largemouth bass numbers seem to be increasing and the number of larger bass is increasing as well. Smallmouth bass do exist in the reservoir and have been sample but are few and far between. The reservoir is currently managed under a 12-15 inch slot limit, which means that no bass may be harvested within that size range. While the bluegill populations haven't been doing to well the white perch have been growing and are now one of the top species of the reservoir. |
